Technical description
The system that allows you to process credit cards through, is running
on 2 Silicon Graphics Origin 200 servers running on Unix with RAID, as
well as 2 O2's.
All our networking equipment is from CISCO. The Silicon Graphics servers
are configured with failsafe software, so in the unlikely event that for
instance one of the Origins crashes due to a bad motherboard, the other
Origin takes over immediately without any downtime.
Should both origin 200 servers fail we have a similar system that can
be configured to take over within an hour.
The RAID is configured as raid 5 with 2 hot global spares, which means
that we only start sweating when 3 hard discs have failed and we haven't
had time to replace them.
Everything is of course backed up continuously and tapes (encrypted!)
are placed outside the building every evening. We also have a backup system
(also consisting of 2 origin 200 servers with raid) in an alternate location
in the unlikely event of a major incident like the building going up in
flames.
Bandwidth
We are connected to the Internet using Denmark's 2 largest Internet Connectivity
providers. We are connected directly to 2 different backbones and both
lines are burstable ATM connections, our theoretical maximum bandwidth
is 155mbit times 2. (That's over 1,200 times faster than ISDN!) |
