The system does a series of over 150 additional checks including: A geo-locating check, which finds the end user and ascertains how far he is from his general ISP etc. It also checks the regular usage of the card on previous transactions. It checks against a European polling register (An Electoral Roll) instead of AVS for European cards. It also access’ the CyberSource International negative database. This system has been screening transaction for over 5 years and currently is rumored to validate over 4 million transactions per month. This database is enormous and they have an in built ‘artificial intelligence’, which learns from each transaction. This keeps an accurate past history on the card and the user and has formed a strong base to the Fraud Screen know as IVS – Independent Verification System. This system has assisted its users in keeping fraud and charge backs to less that half of 1% in the past.
